The selection process

Applications must be submitted exclusively via the online application portal, which is only activated for the application period. Applications that are not submitted on time and in the correct form cannot be considered in the selection process. We currently expect to award around 30 further scholarships and around 30 new Deutschlandstipendium scholarships at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences.

After the application deadline, the applications are reviewed and ranked by the project manager of the Deutschlandstipendium, Anke Mackowiack. They are then evaluated by the scholarship officers of the individual faculties. The selection committee, which usually meets one week before the start of lectures in the winter semester, votes on the final ranking of the individual faculties. The ranking is based on two criteria: Grades and personal performance. The distribution of scholarships among the faculties is based on the size of the faculty and on funding commitments from private sponsors. The application documents are also sent to interested sponsors, who have the opportunity to name the people they would like to sponsor. In the final step, Ms. Mackowiack makes the final scholarship allocation. You will probably be informed of the result of the award procedure in mid-October at the earliest. Funding will then be awarded retroactively to the start of the winter semester. The Deutschlandstipendium kick-off event will take place in November, where the new scholarship holders will receive their scholarship certificate and have the opportunity to meet their sponsor.

Parallel conveying

Whether parallel funding with another scholarship is possible depends on the amount and type of scholarship funding. As a general rule, anyone who already receives material support based on aptitude and performance that amounts to an average of 30 euros or more per month cannot receive a Deutschlandstipendium. Use the detailed tabular overview of the admissibility of receiving other scholarships at the same time as the Deutschlandstipendium. If you are supported by the BMW SpeedUp program through a monthly scholarship from BMW, parallel funding through the Deutschlandstipendium is not possible.
