Marie-Claire Fogas-Braun, born in 1989, studied from 2012 - 2014 at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences and Aalen University in the master's program in Applied Surface and Material Sciences. Prior to that, she completed her bachelor's degree in packaging technology at the Media University.
Directly afterwards, she started her doctoral thesis entitled "Selective corrosion mechanisms for deriving an effective sum for wrought Al-Mg-Si-Cu alloys" as part of an industrial doctorate at Daimler AG and completed it part-time. The first supervision was done through RWTH Aachen University at the Chair of Corrosion and Corrosion Protection and the second supervision was done by Prof. Dr. Renate Lobnig from Esslingen University of Applied Sciences.
In 2016, Ms. Fogas-Braun moved to a permanent position at Daimler AG as a process developer for temporary corrosion protection. Here she had sole technical responsibility for the design of transport corrosion protection of engine and transmission parts in the powertrain area. In 2019, she has moved professionally in the direction of electromobility and, in her role as Lead Engineer Battery Production EVA2, oversees battery production in Hedelfingen. The batteries are installed in the all-electric EQS series.
She fondly remembers her student days at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences.
Ms. Fogas-Braun, your first thought about "Hochschule Esslingen"?
I really liked the application-oriented design of the course via internships. I also like to think back to the group work. Each of us brought a professional diversity with us through our previous bachelor studies.
How did the studies in Esslingen help you in your current profession?
The master's program in Esslingen was the ideal ticket for my doctoral thesis as well as for my first permanent position.
What would you like to pass on to the students?
I was able to broaden my horizons a lot by completing my master's degree at a different university than my bachelor's degree.
I can recommend looking for a working student job alongside your studies, on the one hand to sound out the right field of work for yourself and on the other hand to make it easier to start your career.
