Transfer Activities, Lectures, Events and Trade Fairs
The BW Industry 4.0 Transfer Platform is a joint initiative of the universities of Aalen, Esslingen and Reutlingen and the Steinbeis Foundation, funded by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Housing of the state of Baden-Württemberg.
The aim of the project is to establish and consolidate a transfer company that uses expertise and research to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular to make better use of the great opportunities in the field of digital transformation and the good competitive conditions throughout the state. The transfer activities focus on digitalisation and the use of artificial intelligence in the automotive industry, including its suppliers, equipment suppliers and service providers. SMEs in particular must implement customer requirements ever faster and react flexibly to new demands with their production.
The non-profit Steinbeis Innovation Centre (SIZ) Transfer Platform Industry 4.0 was founded for the BW Industry 4.0 transfer platform. As part of the SIZ, test environments are set up in the laboratories of the participating universities, including the VAL, with the aim of providing SMEs with low-threshold access to Industry 4.0 technologies.
The Virtual Automation Lab cooperates with the Steinbeis Transfer Centre Automation and Robotics for the Smart Factory. The Steinbeis Transfer Centre is also headed by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Sascha Röck and offers consulting, training and development services in the VAL's fields of expertise.
The VAL offered insights into the ‘Industrial Metaverse’ and demonstrated how industrial robots and production facilities can be projected as holograms. This allowed the potential for development and optimisation without physical prototypes and safe training on the digital twin to be presented.
